Joan’s Birthday
Congratulations to Joan, who was all smiles as she celebrated her 90th birthday at Birchwood Manor on a gorgeous summer day in June. Joan’s daughter, Suzanne, reserved the Ann Farrell’s Room for her party of 77 close friends and family, who traveled from all over the country. A few surprises were in store for Joan that day and she enjoyed every moment.
As guests arrived, they were treated to an assortment of passed hors d’oeuvres including clams casino, sausage stuffed mushroom caps, and coconut chicken with sweet and sour dipping sauce. After cocktails and socializing in the bar area, guests took their seats in the main dining room. A sumptuous buffet followed with hot chafing dish favorites such as eggplant rollatini and veal marsala, and an international cheese board with fruits, crackers, and vegetable crudité. Guests sampled several stations including a wok stir fry with baby shrimp, a pasta station serving tortellini gorgonzola, and chef’s carvings of roast prime ribs and herb roasted turkey. The big hit was the seafood spectacular of fresh jumbo gulf shrimp, clams, oysters, and cocktail lobsters.
Music was provided by Robert Frannicola of Ultimate Entertainment and he had everyone singing and dancing throughout. They all sang “Happy Birthday” to Joan and were served a delicious slice of vanilla cake with chocolate fudge filling.
This day will long be remembered as a fun-filled 90th birthday celebration.
